Fourth and Final Days

Fourth of July on the Cape started with some morning drizzles but evolved into a beauteous afternoon!  We played games, biked to Seagull Beach about a mile down the road, grilled, and went to the neighboring town of Hyannis for some fireworks!!!

Before the fireworks

My delicious red velvet cupcake (my favorite) from the Kandy Korner in downtown Hyannis, which is always a classic stop for us!

Our streak of brilliant weather continued into Thursday, and with a perfect balance of clouds and sun, we enjoyed our fourth consecutive beach day!!!  We went to our second Cape Cod Baseball league game that night!

Classically me

Sadly our week was coming to an end….  Early Friday Dad, Shannon and I pedaled quickly back to Seagull Beach and passed the morning playing catch and swimming until it was time to pack up.

Dad and me!

And we’re back in Connecticut. I miss the Cape already, but it was an absolutely fantastic week!!!!  Celebrating somebody’s 21st birthday this weekend, but more on that later =)

First days in the Cape

Ah, summer in Cape Cod! We meet again =) A much-anticipated vacation, especially for Dad, has finally arrived! On Sunday evening, we arrived to a spectacular sunset. After tossing our stuff into our cozy rented cottage, we headed out to a nearby pier to see the ocean…

Also we’ve seen a bunch of amazing sand creations around town! Below is a tribute to the Olympics in London and a pretty impressive whale :)

A most obvious chunk of our time has consisted of lounging in the soft sands of a beach in Dennis. I’m not a huge water person in general, but who can resist a beautifully sunny day with warm low tides?! A cooler weighted with drinks, turkey sandwiches, grapes, Goldfish, etc. ; an umbrella perfect for reading in the shade; and a good book have made the last two days pretty enviable.

He looks relaxed, don’t ya think?

Mini golf is always a hugely entertaining part of our getaways! Pirate’s Cove is an excellent course that we’re always extremely competitive for.

Even after two holes-in-one on the course, I somehow lost by one to Bobby =(

After the hole-in-one on the first hole!

There’s always some learning experience when we’re away and this year’s first one has been about chocolate milk syrup. After pouring out in a lumpy consistency, the syrup refused to blend and dissolve into the milk. What looks like a blurry Oreo shake is actually supposed to be smooth chocolate-y dairy drink. = Fail to the Stop&Shop brand of Hershey’s.

We’ve been livin’ the ultimate summer vacation life out here the last few days. Beaching, grilling, playing mini-golf, watching a Cape Cod Baseball game, and devouring ice cream– nothing better =)  Friday will come much too soon… Happy 4th, everybody!
